Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretary General Amer Kapetanović concluded his visit to the United States with meetings in Washington, D.C., including a roundtable on South East European regional cooperation organized by the Atlantic Council.

Kapetanović highlighted the importance of deepening transatlantic cooperation to support stability and security in South East Europe, noting that faster convergence could strengthen regional resilience. He underscored the RCC’s role as a regionally owned platform promoting initiatives such as the Common Regional Market, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and the SEE2030 Strategy.

During discussions with attending ambassadors, Kapetanović pointed to concrete results of the Common Regional Market, including abolished roaming charges and mutual recognition of professional qualifications, emphasizing that visible outcomes are essential to maintaining public support for integration.

“Our region is not on the periphery of Europe; it is integral to its stability and prosperity. Through regional cooperation and partnerships, we can turn vision into tangible benefits for citizens and businesses,” Kapetanović said.

The RCC Secretary General also met with the European Union Ambassador to the United States, Jovita Neliupšienė. His Washington engagements followed meetings in New York earlier this week on the margins of the UN General Assembly, including the SEECP Foreign Ministers’ annual meeting and the signing of a Letter of Intent with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
