The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska on the sidelines of the Dubrovnik Forum on Friday, reaffirming the RCC’s mission to drive European and Euro-Atlantic integration as a path to peace and prosperity in South East Europe.
The meeting highlighted the need for stronger regional cooperation to bolster the long-term resilience and security of the Western Balkans, with talks focusing on countering hybrid threats, boosting crisis preparedness and strengthening institutional stability.
“For the RCC, security and stability are prerequisites for progress. We will continue working with all our participants, including NATO, to support reforms, build trust and keep the Western Balkans firmly anchored to its European and Euro-Atlantic future,” Kapetanović said.
He also presented new findings from the RCC’s SecuriMeter survey, which gauges public perceptions of security threats and shows that citizens still see the EU and NATO as among the most trusted organisations in the region.
Šekerinska praised the RCC’s role in fostering regional stability and closer ties with Euro-Atlantic institutions, reaffirming NATO’s commitment to support the Council’s work and a shared goal of a secure and resilient Western Balkans.
Looking ahead, Kapetanović announced that the RCC will host the region’s largest security event in November, informally known as “Jumbo Security”, which is expected to gather policymakers, security experts and partners to strengthen cooperation and resilience amid rising security challenges in South East Europe.
