The average net salary in Montenegro reached €1,000 in March, a 0.1% increase from February and a 21.6% rise compared with the same month last year, the national statistics office Monstat said on Friday.
The average gross salary stood at nearly €1,200 in March.
Despite the nominal wage growth, real wages declined by 0.2% over the same period due to a 0.3% rise in consumer prices compared with January, Monstat said in a press release.
Sectors that recorded an increase in average net salaries included real estate, professional and technical services, hospitality, financial and insurance services, water supply and waste management, IT and communications, civil engineering, transportation, administration, healthcare, social welfare, and agriculture.
Conversely, wages fell in sectors such as electricity and gas supply, arts and entertainment, mining and quarrying, manufacturing, public administration and defence, retail trade, motor vehicle services, and education.
