Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović met on Wednesday with UK Ambassador Dawn McKen to discuss European integration and regional cooperation ahead of the Berlin Process meetings in Belfast and London.
Ibrahimović congratulated Britain on hosting the gatherings, saying they reaffirm London’s commitment to the Western Balkans, and stressed Montenegro’s readiness to contribute to their success.
He said the Berlin Process is a key instrument for advancing EU integration, offering political and technical frameworks for joint regional projects, and supporting all Western Balkan countries regardless of their pace of accession talks.
McKen said the initiative helps speed up preparations for membership through practical cooperation on economic connectivity, green and digital transitions, and youth mobility. She welcomed Montenegro’s forthcoming chairmanship of the Process as a chance to reinforce this approach.
The two officials also discussed bilateral ties, highlighting Montenegro’s NATO partnership with the UK, close political cooperation, and British support for democratic and structural reforms.
They agreed that strengthening UK–EU cooperation opens space for deeper engagement in the Western Balkans, including through the Berlin Process and the European Political Community summits.
