Montenegro’s energy sector offers the country its greatest development opportunity, capable of driving economic growth, creating jobs and ensuring long-term stability, Energy and Mining Minister Admir Sahmanovic said on Friday.
Speaking at a meeting in Abu Dhabi with Masdar Chief Executive Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Sahmanovic said Montenegro needs strategic partners to unlock the sector’s potential, given the scale of investment required.
“Investments in major infrastructure projects in the energy sector are measured in hundreds of millions of euros, which requires strong partnerships and pooling of resources,” Sahmanovic said.
The ministry said the talks focused on strengthening cooperation and exploring new projects, building on Masdar’s existing involvement in Montenegro through the Krnovo wind farm.
Al Ramahi said Masdar has the capital, expertise and readiness to expand further in Eastern Europe, with Montenegro a priority in its investment plans.
Sahmanovic reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a stable regulatory framework, streamlined procedures and efficient administration to provide investors with security and predictability.
