Montenegro is facing a political storm after explicit videos featuring former state secretary Mirjana Pajković emerged, prompting her to accuse high-ranking officials of threats and misconduct.

Pajković, who served in the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, said she received threats from the top of the security sector and from the office of President Jakov Milatović. She provided an audio recording as evidence, citing concerns that authorities might not have believed her claims otherwise.

“I was threatened with having no place or life in Montenegro and that my private life would be exposed,” Pajković said in a public statement. “Fortunately, I made this recording; otherwise, I think no one would have believed me.”

The scandal, which has captured regional attention, also involves Dejan Vukšić, former head of Montenegro’s National Security Agency (ANB) and until recently an adviser to the president. Pajković accused Vukšić of criminally distributing sensitive material, which she said was intended to destroy her mental health and disrupt her family life.

She criticized what she described as a lack of timely action from authorities, noting that Vukšić had not yet been questioned by prosecutors and that protective measures, such as restraining orders, had not been implemented.

Pajković also highlighted broader concerns over legal protections, saying the law should be applied more strictly to public officials. “When those in authority threaten you, the danger is greater than if it comes from a regular citizen,” she said. She added that her work advocating for human rights and vulnerable groups under Montenegro’s European agenda underscores the inadequate protection of women and the right to privacy.

Authorities have not issued an official response to her allegations. The scandal comes at a politically sensitive time in Montenegro, raising questions about governance and accountability at the highest levels.
