The Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović, said that the project aims to improve port infrastructure and improve rail connectivity in the Port of Bar, and that it includes the development of studies, technical, environmental and tender documentation for key infrastructure components.
Montenegro has been approved for the Port of Bar Modernization Project, worth 1,62 million euros, as part of the technical support program of the Western Balkans Investment Fund (WBIF).
The Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović, said that the project aims to improve port infrastructure and improve rail connectivity of the Port of Bar, and that it includes the development of studies, technical, environmental and tender documentation for key infrastructure components.
“The project involves the development of complete technical documentation for deepening the port waters, expanding the port terminal quay, reconstructing the electricity supply system, and building a closed port warehouse,” said Radulović.
He stated that the development of a preliminary design for deepening the waters of the Port of Bar is of particular importance, which will ultimately enable the docking of larger vessels and improve the competitiveness of the port.
The project, as added in the statement, also focuses on improving the railway infrastructure within the port and developing multimodal transport in Montenegro.
For this purpose, a master plan will be prepared for the reconstruction of the railway network within the port, as well as the railway access from Bar station to the port border.
“The Port of Bar remains committed to modernization and development, in order to become a key transport and logistics point in the region,” concluded Radulović.
