French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday he held talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, reaffirming France’s support for Serbia’s European path and calling for continued reforms and regional dialogue.
“I reiterated my belief that Serbia’s European future is the right path, and my hope that it will continue advancing on that path of reform and accession, in a spirit of dialogue,” Macron said in a post on social media.
He said the two leaders reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen cooperation between France and Serbia.
Macron said they also held detailed discussions on the situation in the Western Balkans, emphasizing France’s support for the stability, unity, and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the importance of upholding the rule of law.
He underscored the importance of dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and reiterated France’s opposition to any unilateral actions that could endanger that process.
“With the Western Balkan countries, Europe will fulfil its destiny – in unity, solidarity and responsibility,” Macron said.
