Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti voiced concern over the growing threat of nuclear proliferation, warning that the expansion of nuclear arsenals poses a serious risk to global security.
“International security needs fewer nuclear weapons, not more bombs that endanger all of humanity,” Kurti said in a social media post, in response to recent developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme.
He expressed particular alarm over authoritarian regimes pursuing weapons of mass destruction, calling such moves “urgent and alarming.”
“When authoritarian states seek to acquire nuclear weapons, the issue becomes both urgent and deeply troubling,” Kurti wrote.
The Kosovo leader reiterated his country’s alignment with the United States and the European Union on the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“The Republic of Kosovo supports the position of the United States and the European Union regarding Iran’s nuclear programme,” Kurti stated.
He also reaffirmed Kosovo’s strategic alliance with Washington, calling the U.S. its “main ally, indispensable partner and special friend.”
“The Republic of Kosovo is firmly committed to defending democratic and Euro-Atlantic values. The United States is the democratic superpower that must be supported,” he added.
