PRISTINA, Feb 27  – The latest count from 19 out of 43 ballot boxes in Kosovo’s diplomatic missions abroad shows the ruling Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination Movement) leading with 81.89% of the votes (3,305 votes), followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 7.21% (291 votes).

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) ranks third with 5.75% (232 votes), while the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has secured 1.54% (62 votes). Kosovo citizens abroad cast their ballots in diplomatic missions across 19 countries.

A total of 15,352 Kosovar citizens participated in the voting process outside the country. Analysts suggest that Vetëvendosje’s strong performance could translate into an increase of up to three additional parliamentary seats.

“We are likely to see an increase of two to three MPs for Vetëvendosje. In an extreme scenario, they could reach up to 51 seats,” political analyst Kujtim Zebica told Reuters.

Such a result would enhance Vetëvendosje’s chances of forming a government with only the support of non-Serb minority communities, which have 10 reserved seats in Kosovo’s parliament.

“I expect them to have 49-50 MPs, which would favor Vetëvendosje in forming the government. However, a stable government without a broader coalition remains uncertain, especially as the election of the president next year requires at least 80 MPs present,” Zebica added.

Following the completion of vote counting in diplomatic missions, the process will continue with the counting of postal votes from the diaspora, where approximately 63,000 ballot packages have been approved.

The Central Election Commission aims to announce the final results by March 5 and certify them by March 18.
