The southeastern Albanian city of Korça opened the 7th edition of the “Spirit of the Balkans” festival on Friday night, showcasing a vibrant blend of traditional folk and jazz music from across the region.
Performers from Kosovo, Bulgaria, France, Montenegro, Greece, North Macedonia, and Albania filled the city streets with a lively display of music, dance, and colorful national costumes, attracting both locals and tourists.
Korça Mayor Sotiraq Filo welcomed the cultural spectacle, describing it as “a mosaic of languages, costumes and identities, enthusiastically embraced by citizens and visitors alike.” He said the festival serves as “a living testimony to the Balkan spirit that transcends borders.”
The evening culminated at the city’s historic Old Bazaar, where live performances created a festive atmosphere, with audiences singing, dancing and celebrating under the lights.
“Korça lit up with the energy of a night that will not be easily forgotten,” said Filo. “It was another night that proves why Korça is the capital of spirit, culture and hospitality.”
The “Spirit of the Balkans” festival aims to promote cultural exchange and unity among Balkan nations through music and tradition.
