Israel’s Ambassador to Albania, Galit Peleg, said Monday that the recent Israeli airstrike on Iran was aimed at neutralizing Tehran’s growing strategic threats, particularly its nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, while stressing that Israeli citizens are fully aware of the risks and prepared to face any threat.

“The strike had three clear objectives: to stop their nuclear capabilities, their ballistic capabilities, and their political agenda aimed at Israel’s destruction,” Peleg said in an interview with Euronews Albania. “We are prepared, and we are grateful that Iran hasn’t yet reached the nuclear strike capability.”

Tensions between Israel and Iran have sharply escalated following a wave of airstrikes and retaliatory attacks, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.

Peleg described the Iranian regime as showing signs of weakness and said Tehran’s calls for a ceasefire indicate it understands “we are clear in our stance and strong in our response.”

She expressed hope that international pressure combined with Israel’s response will force Iran to halt uranium enrichment and further development of its ballistic arsenal.

“People in Israel understand the threat Iran poses with its advancing capabilities. They are more prepared than ever — even though no one can truly be ready when a half-ton missile explodes in your home,” the ambassador said.

Speaking about the situation on the ground, Peleg reported that Israel has suffered 24 fatalities and around 600 injuries from Iranian missile attacks in recent days. She described a growing sense of unity among the Israeli population.

“People are helping each other — these are times when we stand together,” Peleg added. “And they understand why the strike on Iran was necessary. Had Iran already developed nuclear capabilities, the consequences would have been far worse. That’s why we had to act.”
