Greece will open 114 archaeological sites, museums and monuments across the country for special evening events marking Saturday’s August full moon, the Culture Ministry said.

The programme, coordinated by the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage, will include theatrical performances, concerts, dance shows, stargazing, myth-telling and guided tours from Aug. 8 to 13. Seventy-one sites will host events, while another 44 will offer free entry under the moonlight, the ministry said.

In Athens, the National Archaeological Museum will open from 8 p.m. to midnight on Aug. 9 with free admission and themed tours led by archaeologists. Tours will cover topics ranging from gold and amber in antiquity to the role of the moon in Neolithic societies and a historical walk around the museum building.

Each tour will be limited to 20 participants, with advance booking required by phone. Entry to the museum’s galleries will also be free during the evening, with last admission at 11:45 p.m.
