The European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas will visit North Macedonia on Thursday as part of a three-day tour of the Western Balkans, the EU Delegation in Skopje said.
Kallas, who serves as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, will use the visit to reaffirm the bloc’s commitment to the region and highlight its foreign and security policy priorities.
During her stop in Skopje, Kallas is expected to meet with North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, as well as other senior government officials, the delegation said in a statement.
She will also attend the inaugural session of the EU–North Macedonia Security and Defence Partnership alongside Foreign and Trade Minister Timco Mucunski and Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski. The event is set to take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Later, Kallas and Misajlovski will visit the Ilinden barracks in Skopje, where they will meet members of the Balkan Medical Task Force, part of a regional defence cooperation initiative.
