The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, briefed ambassadors of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) participants accredited to the EU on Thursday, outlining progress and priorities under the South East Europe 2030 (SEE2030) Strategy.
The meeting, held at the RCC Liaison Office in Brussels, provided an overview of regional cooperation efforts, with emphasis on SEE2030 — a joint initiative by 13 SEECP participants aimed at fostering sustainable, inclusive and smart development in the region.
“SEE2030 is more than a strategy; it unites 13 participants around 45 development targets aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” Kapetanović said. “As crises become the norm, the strategy is a reminder that the region’s future depends on cooperation and shared resilience.”
Kapetanović also pointed to alignment between SEE2030, the Common Regional Market (CRM) 2025–2028, and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, calling for greater coordination to deliver tangible results for citizens, businesses, and institutions.
Ambassadors voiced support for the RCC’s role in advancing regional objectives, commending the organisation’s efforts to implement the strategy and urging continued focus on inclusive and forward-looking policies.
Key initiatives discussed included the launch of CRM 2.0 as a step toward integration with the EU Single Market, improved mobility and skills recognition, digital transformation and regional connectivity, disaster risk insurance, and climate adaptation planning.
Kapetanović also briefed participants on preparations for the Berlin Process Summit, scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom this autumn, where the region will present outcomes linked to reform and regional solidarity.
The RCC reaffirmed its position as the operational arm of the SEECP, facilitating coordination and development across South East Europe under the SEE2030 framework.
