Former Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga on Monday rejected media reports linking her to documents related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, calling the claims “entirely unfounded and untrue.”

In a public statement, Jahjaga said that during her tenure as president she had never met, known, or had any form of contact with Epstein.

She said the mention of her name in recent media coverage stems solely from an email exchange between third parties included in recently released documents, which, she added, does not demonstrate any meeting, relationship or personal connection with her.

“My name does not appear in any of the published documents,” Jahjaga said. She added that while the email refers to “the President of Kosovo,” it does not specify which president and does not contain any request for a meeting on her behalf.

Jahjaga said any reporting suggesting otherwise amounts to insinuation and misrepresentation of the facts, which she said can be verified by reviewing the documents.

She called on media outlets that have mentioned her name to publish her clarification, stressing that she has never met, known, or sought a meeting with the individual in question in any official capacity.

Jahjaga is mentioned in an email contained in a broader trove of documents related to Epstein that have been reviewed by multiple media outlets. The reference appears in a message sent to Epstein by a person identified only as “Daniel,” whose role or affiliation is not specified in the records.

In the email, the sender wrote that the Princess of Thailand would be in New York at the United Nations together with the President of Kosovo, and that the Kosovo president wished to meet Epstein if he was available that week.

“The Princess of Thailand will be in New York, United Nations, together with the President of Kosovo. She would like to meet you if you have time this week,” the email said, signed “Daniel.”

Jahjaga served as Kosovo’s president from 2011 to 2016, including in 2012, the period referenced in the email. The documents do not indicate that any meeting between Jahjaga and Epstein took place, nor do they show that such a request was made by her or her office.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Jahjaga in the email or elsewhere in the released materials. Mentions in Epstein-related documents do not imply illegal activity or personal association, and many names appear only in passing references or third-party correspondence.

The documents are part of a wider release of court records and related materials linked to Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. The release has prompted renewed global scrutiny as journalists examine references to public figures, diplomats and business leaders.
