Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias on Friday highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between Greece and the United Kingdom in research, production and technology during the opening session of the Greek-British Symposium 2025 at Jesus College, University of Cambridge.
“In this changing world, no state, no matter how powerful, can face these challenges alone,” Dendias said, underscoring the need for strategic collaboration in an era marked by geopolitical uncertainty.
The event, titled “Greece and the United Kingdom – Partners in an Age of Uncertainty,” brought together policymakers, academics, and business leaders to discuss bilateral relations and global security challenges.
Dendias said the partnership between Athens and London is rooted in shared values and historical ties. “They should share a common view of the world,” he noted, adding that the two countries’ cooperation must evolve to meet new technological and defence demands.
He also referred to the bilateral framework agreement signed between Greece and the UK, expressing personal pride in its significance. “I am proud that this agreement bears my signature. It is not just a formality — I strongly believe in this friendship, but it is something we have to work on together,” he said.
During his visit to the UK, Dendias toured the Imperial War Museum Duxford Airfield, accompanied by museum director Caro Howell. In a post on X, he said he was “honoured to visit one of the most important landmarks of aviation history.”
