Several schools in Skopje, Štip, Kočani, Tetovo and Kumanovo were evacuated on Thursday morning following bomb threats received via email, authorities said. Police teams from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVR) were dispatched to conduct security checks.
Following thorough inspections, MVR confirmed that the bomb threats were false. The ministry stated that it had taken precautionary measures to handle the situation and ensure public safety.
Reports of bomb threats were widespread, affecting numerous primary and secondary schools across the capital and other cities. The municipality of Aerodrom urged residents to remain calm, assuring that classes would resume following police clearance.
False bomb threats have increasingly disrupted North Macedonia’s educational institutions in recent months, prompting calls for enhanced security protocols and investigations into their source. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
