Household consumption in Albania grew 3.88% in the second quarter of 2025 compared with a year earlier, official data showed on Wednesday, underlining the economy’s reliance on domestic demand.
Figures from the national statistics agency INSTAT showed household spending remained the largest component of total expenditures, supported by higher disposable incomes from wage rises in both the public and private sectors.
Stable prices helped preserve purchasing power for basic goods and services, while stronger consumer confidence also lifted spending, INSTAT said.
Household consumption includes food, energy, transport, education, health and other services. Economists see sustained growth in this indicator as a positive signal for broader economic activity, as it stimulates key production and service sectors.
The agency said the upward trend in household consumption remains a crucial driver of Albania’s overall economic growth.
