About 90% of businesses operating in Albania will continue to benefit from zero taxes until 2029, the government said on Friday, as part of efforts to bolster local economies.
Finance Minister Petrit Malaj announced the extension during a visit to a small confectionery and bakery business in Lushnja, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting small enterprises.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies. We remain focused on creating favorable conditions for this sector, which contributes daily to economic growth. Our zero-tax policy for these businesses will remain in place until 2029,” Malaj said.
During his visit, Malaj praised local entrepreneur Genc Syziu, who has built a loyal customer base through high-quality products.
According to the latest data from Albania’s Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), there were 117,292 active businesses nationwide by the end of 2023. Enterprises with one to four employees accounted for 86.1% of active firms, employing 28% of the workforce and generating 15.4% of net sales.
