Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut on Wednesday highlighted education reforms, infrastructure investment, and the opening of a new motorway section as key achievements of his government’s first 100 days in office.
Speaking during a visit to the archaeological site of Caričin Grad in the southern municipality of Lebane, Macut said the site serves as an example of how Serbia’s cultural and tourism potential can be used to boost development in other parts of the country, according to a government statement.
Among the cabinet’s accomplishments, Macut cited the adoption of amendments to the Law on Textbooks, as well as infrastructure projects including the newly opened Pakovraće–Požega motorway section.
He said more details on the government’s 100-day performance will be shared on Thursday during a visit to Knjaževac, but pointed to a number of important legislative initiatives already endorsed by the cabinet.
“We will return to our roots and to what represents Serbia’s national identity, with national publishers and authors in areas such as Serbian language and literature, geography, environmental studies, visual and music education, and history,” Macut said.
Caričin Grad, also known as Justiniana Prima, is a 6th-century Byzantine site built by Emperor Justinian I. It is classified as an immovable cultural heritage site of exceptional importance in Serbia.
