Albania’s Trade with EU Accounts for Over Half of Total Volume in H1 2025

Trade between Albania and European Union countries accounted for 55.9% of the country’s total trade volume in the first half of 2025, Albania’s statistics agency INSTAT said on Thursday.

Exports to EU member states made up 67.2% of total exports from January to June, while imports from the EU represented 52.2% of overall imports during the same period.

Italy remained Albania’s largest trading partner, accounting for 27.1% of trade, followed by China (9.1%), Greece (7.6%), and Turkey (7.1%).

In June alone, exports to the EU stood at 67.4% of total exports, while EU imports represented 50.7% of the monthly import figure. Key partners for the month were Italy (26.5%), China (11.4%), Greece (7.3%), and Germany (7.0%).

Goods exports in the January–June period reached 203 billion leks ($2.12 billion), marking a 2.1% increase year-on-year. Imports totalled 431 billion leks, down 2.0% from the same period in 2024.

In June, exports were valued at 35 billion leks, up 1.9% year-on-year and 0.6% higher than in May. Imports for the month reached 77 billion leks, down 0.2% compared to June 2024 and 1.5% lower than in May 2025.
